The QCA Legal Committee responded to the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform's (BERR – now BIS) drafting of the statutory instrument to introduce the Shareholders' Rights Directive into UK law. We highlighted some specific issues with the drafting and these comments follow questions raised in BERR's October 2008 consultation paper, 'Implementation of the Directive on the exercise of certain rights of shareholders in listed companies', to which the QCA responded in January 2009.
