In recent years the progress of the QCA – however measured – has been tremendous. In particular, the burgeoning membership is testament to the demand for collective representation of the substantial and diverse community of stakeholders in the UK small and mid-size quoted company sector. In turn that membership growth has enabled the QCA to continuously broaden its range of capabilities in assisting members navigate the challenges posed by a fast-evolving political, social & regulatory context.

The QCA Corporate Governance Code has captured the headlines, not least it’s adoption by a staggering 800+ AIM companies. In particular, this success reflects a strict adherence to and application of the principle of proportionality that governs all the QCA activities.

The QCA seeks to influence, not just in preserving and protecting but also enhancing the vibrancy, liquidity, and access to capital for an ecosystem which is the engine of the UK economy.

As an incoming Chair, I find a QCA today more relevant than at any point in its 27-year history with resources that can be accessed at any number of levels by its members. There is tremendous technical depth of insight available from the Expert Groups, high-level representation and tangible influence of the community's interests to policymakers and regulators (domestically and abroad), and in between there is a forum to connect with the broader membership and use as a sounding board on the issues of the day that fosters good, practical and proportional stewardship.

So a welcome from me and I encourage you to really tap those resources and get involved. The organisation itself becomes more valuable for that engagement and at its heart, you will only find committed support from Tim’s passionate and dedicated team.

I look forward to working to represent you in the coming years. If you have anything that you would like me and the board to consider, please get in touch via mail@theqca.com or through Tim or any of his colleagues.
