Our one day conference – Engineering Growth for Small and Mid-Cap Companies – brought together over 160 peope from the sector to debate how to improve access to finance and stimulate growth.

Over the course of the day, we held five panel sessions, with 21 business leaders, policymakers, investors, regulators and more speaking. Our panel sessions covered:

  • the future of equity finance
  • the role of reporting in helping companies to grow
  • corporate governance and shareholder engagement
  • fund managers debating how to incentivise investment into small and mid-sizecompanies
  • broadening companies’ funding options

Our event also featured two keynote speakers – David Gauke MP, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, and Dr Kay Swinburne MEP – with providing a perspective about what Whitehall and Brussels are doing to help small and mid-size quoted companies grow and create employment.

The day also marked the unveiling of our new brand, building greater awareness and visibility of our organisation in our 20th year.

We have put together a report, which summarises each panel session and the debate that took place. Click here to download the report (large pdf).

We have also put up videos of each speech and panel session of the day, which you can find on our YouTube channel.

We would like to thank all those that attended on the day and contributed to the debate. We would also like to thank our gold sponsors, Crowe Clark Whitehill and Winterflood Securities, and our silver sponsors, Hogan Lovells International LLP, YouGov plc, TheCityUK, FTSE, LLoyds Bank, and Capita.

We will soon be announcing the date for next year's event – so watch this space.
