The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) has campaigned for more principles-based accounting standards since 2006 when it launched its report Principles Not Rules: A Question of Judgement. As the five year anniversary of the launch of the report approaches ICAS is keen to gather the views of the accounting profession, companies and investors on: the desirability of principles-based standards; the progress towards this aim over the last five years; the impediments to principles-based standards; and the actions required to make principles-based standards a reality.

The survey will take five minutes to complete and all responses will be treated as confidential and the results will be launched at our conference Principles Not Rules: A question of Action in London in autumn 2011. The conference will be free to attend and if you would like to receive further details on this please provide your email address when completing the survey.

Respondents will be entered into a prize draw for £100 of Amazon vouchers or a £100 donation to a charity of their choice.
