Our Corporate Governance Expert Group contributed to our response to Defra's consultation on Greenhouse Gas Reporting Guidelines, which consults on specifically changing the way that companies report renewable electricity. We supported the greater supply of transparent information that becomes available to companies and their investors from greenhouse gas emissions reporting. However, we do not support the proposed changes to the reporting of renewable electricity. We believe that there should be a single mandated regime for mandatory reporting in this case and that the proposal of a 'dual reporting' approach fails to reach a substantive conclusion and adds to the costs to do business.
