Our Share Schemes and Tax Expert Groups have advised on our response to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills's consultation on implementing employee owner status. We noted that there are more productive ways to encourage employee share ownership and that we believe that the take up by individuals will be limited, as there are already numerous CGT tax benefits available to employees, without having to give up some of their employment rights and pay income tax on the shares at the time of grant.
